On 1 September, Nivarna Primary School played host to a showcase of youthful ambition and creativity as the EMS Entrepreneurship Initiative brought together learners from the Maraba, Pietersburg, and Seshego circuits.

The event turned classrooms into a marketplace of ideas, giving young entrepreneurs the chance to step out from behind their textbooks and into the shoes of business owners.

A Celebration of EMS in Action

Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) often lives in the pages of a workbook, but on this day it came alive. Learners didn't just recite business concepts — they applied them.

From product development to pricing, marketing, and pitching, the initiative gave circuit learners a real, hands-on feel for what it takes to build a brand from the ground up.

The energy in the room said it all: these young people weren't just participating, they were genuinely invested in showing off what they had built.

La Magic Soap: A Fresh Take on an Everyday Product

Among the standout presentations was La Magic Soap, a flavoured, scented soap brand that immediately caught attention for its originality.

Rather than settling for the ordinary, this young business took a household essential and gave it a playful, sensory twist.

The concept demonstrated real product-thinking — identifying a gap in a familiar market and reimagining it with flair.

The presentation reflected genuine creativity and a solid grasp of what makes a product stand out on a shelf, and it's exactly the kind of innovative spirit the EMS curriculum aims to nurture.

Snack Rush: Rethinking How a Business Runs

Just as impressive was the Snack Rush team, who focused less on a single product and more on the mechanics of running a business efficiently.

Their approach to streamlining how snacks could be sourced, prepared, and delivered showed a sharp understanding of operations — a side of entrepreneurship that's easy to overlook but essential to any business's success. It was encouraging to see young learners thinking not just about what to sell, but how to sell it well.

Energy, Insight, and a Bright Future

Across all four circuits, the common thread was clear: these learners were energetic, engaged, and showed a strong grasp of both business fundamentals and the EMS curriculum.

They tackled their presentations with confidence and creativity well beyond what's typically expected at this level, proving that entrepreneurship education, when brought to life through initiatives like this one, can spark real passion in young minds.

Events like the EMS Entrepreneurship Initiative do more than test classroom knowledge — they plant the seeds for future business leaders.

If the ideas on display at Nivarna Primary School are anything to go by, the Maraba, Pietersburg, and Seshego circuits have plenty of entrepreneurial talent to look forward to.
